European Blackjack has been around for years and as the name suggests it is most commonly found in European countries!

It is one of the more basic Blackjack variants that can be found, and this has led, in part to its popularity. Being both easy to play and even easier to understand you won’t ever find yourself scratching your head at any of its rules of play.

Number Of Decks: European Blackjack uses two full decks of standard playing cards.

Splitting Rules: When playing European Blackjack you can only ever split a hand once, and by doing so you will be playing with the maximum number of hands permitted which is two.

Doubling Down Rules: In European Blackjack you are only allowed to Double Down on hands that total 9, 10 or 11.

Dealer Play: The Dealer must stand on all 17 hands.

The online version of European Blackjack has the entire deck being shuffled before the cards are dealt.

Payout and House Edge: A Blackjack hand pays 3 to 2, and a winning Insurance bet pays 2-1.

European Blackjack – Hint and Tips

The correct playing strategy on European Blackjack is very easy to learn and the only time you should double down is when you are holding a ten, eleven or a pair of fives and the Dealer is showing a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or a 9.

Or when you have a twelve and the Dealer is showing either a 2, 3, 4, 5 or a 6.
You should stand any hand above 17, or a soft 19 or a soft twenty, or a pair of tens, no matter what the Dealer is showing the best strategy is to stand that hand.
